Today, October 11, 2011 we introduce a newarm to Speaking of Dogs – an online store featuring uniqueand novel dog-themed gifts and baskets.

Our Gift Store: The idea has been brewing for a while but it’s finally being launched and we hope you enjoythe products we have chosen to open with. A variety of dog-themed items to choose from; we’ve tried to source different and distinctive,fun and feisty, whimsical and witty – completely canine. Take a peek and feel free to let us know what you think - we’ll be addingnew creations on a regular basis.

Our Bereavement Baskets: When a friend or family member’s pet passes we want to express our deepestcondolences and sympathies and often order flowers or a fruit basket to be delivered. What we’ve initiated is a pet bereavement basket as analternative; thoughtfully selected items designed to extend solace and support to a grieving pet guardian. A compilation of offerings createdto cherish memories, comfort the soul, embrace the bond and celebrate the life of a treasured companion.

Some of our more unfortunate souls need your help

These past couple of years have been particulary difficult for rescues due to the economy and also due to the temporary closure of some shelters in the GTA. Last year Speaking of Dogs rescue has found forever homes for over 125 displaced dogs, many with special needs, and have taken many more into the program. Below is one of the sweethearts we’ve helped.

Sophie

Sophie is as smart as a whip and knows a number of behaviours and tricks. Sophie is medium to higher energy, not a dog who is always on the go, but loves to be stimulated and exercised she will do just about anything for a piece of Rollover treat .

Speaking of dogs Rescue is an all-breed rescue with a focus on senior dogs. All dogs entering the rescue are fully vetted; many, require extraordinary medical attention. The dogs are lovingly cared for in foster homes until their forever families are found.
